Hey all.

Thanks for keeping an eye on the site, which will be kept up to date. News is that we have decided to take on 2 gigs in the next month or so. These will both be great events that we cannot wait to play.

The first is we got invited to play at Sun 2 Moon again this year. Runica will be appearing on stage at Zeplins on Sat 4 July next to such great bands as Sacrifist, Soil 7t7, Wolraad Woltemade, Laconia, LA Cobra and Mrs B. This annual festival will be held at the new Zeplins venue, at the corner of Lavender West and Braam Pretorius Str, Wonderboom. R50 gets you in, and the party starts at 2pm

Check this soon to be updated link: http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=101131589888&ref=mf Then we will be playing at Full Moon Lounge (used to be Cafe Arc) in Hazelwood on Fri 17 July on an alternative and metal live music night there. We will be playing alongside Menorah and Glass Angels, we will link to a Facebook event when it is completed.

In other news, the EP is coming along brilliantly. We are spending every available hour in the studio, and it is sounding great! We patiently look forward to the finished product and will keep you updated.

Looking forward to partying with you on the 4th and 17th of July. Until then, keep an eye on us here on the website, or on Facebook at http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=2372703573

For bookings or queries, you can Email us at band@runica.co.za

Just a quick little update. We're laying down final tracks on the EP. All 6 drum and bass tracks are laid down. Guitars, then keys and vocals going down from this weekend. Sounding awesome so far, can't wait to get some well-recorded stuff out there. We're still turning down most gigs in order to concentrate on studio-time, but have made a couple exceptions which we'll make known when they're confirmed and details are available, closer to the time.

We shall keep you updated and let you know when anything is available. As always, keep an eye on us on Facebook, on the group that has now well-exceeded 1000 members, of which we are very proud.

Thanks and cheers

17/03/2009

Well, we’ve been hard at work behind-the-scenes for a little while now, with gearing up for our EP, and pre-production thereof. This is on-going as we speak (“as I type”!), with drums going down in the final mix over Easter. We have put a lot of work into this, and can’t wait to unleash the recordings once we’re happy, we’ll keep you updated about that, and when it can be expected.

Our big news is that we got an invitation to play a show that we couldn’t turn down. Runica will be playing on Saturday 4 April at the main opening party for Zeplins’ new venue, Zeplins Rockshack Wonderboom (corner of Braam Pretorius and Lavender Streets). We can’t wait to play this venue, and are honoured to be among the first invited to do so. Also keep your eye on the Pretoria News for a feature on us and this show.

We still have some Runica shirts available. If you’re interested, contact the band, leave us a shout on Facebook, or come to us at a gig. R100 will get you a double-printed (with 2 separate shirt designs) male or female t-shirt, in a variety of sizes.

As always, you search for us on Facebook and MySpace if you’re interested. We have a Facebook group getting swiftly up to 1000 members, which is great for us, thank you guys for the support!

We’d also like to extend a big thank you to Karien Ferreira (ragshiel.deviantart.com) for her endless work keeping this site up and running and updated and for her great photos, and to Riaan at www.burtronix.co.za for hosting the site and for his professionalism and help, and to Sean Coetzer (www.vampire.co.za) for his help in designing the site and his great photos. Hope to see you on the 4th!

18/02/2009

Greetings all! If we've been a little quiet the last month or 2, it’s only because we've called off all gigs and offers in order to be able to concentrate on preparing for recording our EP. We have been tweaking and perfecting songs busily in the background, and have already begun pre-production. We are extremely excited to get our songs recorded and out there.

We will definitely announce it as soon as we have a recording ready for your ears. Thanks for the continued support! We will keep you updated. Cheers

02/12/2008

Well, huge thanks to all of you who came out this weekend, and made it such a great one for Runica. Both shows (Cafe Arc and Zeplins) were really well-supported, with large turn-outs which is great. And thanks for everyone who bought our shirts, we look forward to seeing them around!

That's probably gigs for the year for us finished now, we're going to continue preparing for recording. Stay in touch, and we'll let you know of anything important.

Thanks for the support guys, have a good one.

11/11/2008

So then we got to thinking, if we’re already going to play the Cryptkicker on that Sat night, we may as well accept a gig for the Friday. So we did. We’ll be at Café Arc in Hazelwood with Mesadoth and State of the Nation on Fri 28 Nov. R20 will get you in. Here’s the event link.

Then the next night, Sat 29 Nov, we’ll be playing at the Cryptkicker – Elegantly Wasted benefit party at Zeplins. More details on this even will follow shortly, but you can check this so long We will have shirts available for sale at both these shows, so bring an extra R100 if you’re interested. Or contact me through FaceBook As always, please keep an eye on www.runica.co.za for updates The Facebook group has continued growing exponentially, and seems headed for 1000 people which would be fantastic.

Thank you to everyone for their interest and support, and please continue staying in touch with us. We look forward to seeing you guys over that busy, month-end weekend.

8/11/2008

Hi. Well, we weren’t going to do any more shows ‘til our year-end recording, but have decided to make an exception. We will be playing at a Cryptkicker party at Zeplins on Sat 29 November. The party will be held over 3 floors of the club, with some amazing specials and events. Exit Stranger will also be playing. We will wait for the organisers to announce them, but there’s some great stuff that’s gonna happen. Details to follow with the organisers.

We will also be selling what’s left of our Runica shirts there, so bring R100 extra if you’re interested. Or you can get in touch with me through Facebook. Then the next big thing is our recording, which we will stay in touch about.

Look forward to seeing you guys at Zeplins.

21/10/2008

You may have noticed, we haven’t been accepting gigs for a couple of weeks, and this will continue for a few more. We decided to take some time off in order to write (2 new songs have already been completed!), and prepare for recording at the end of the year. We’ve been hard at work in the background!

The FaceBook group has been growing exponentially, which is awesome. If you haven’t joined, click on the FaceBook logo on this site’s homepage. If you are there, drop us a wall post, or a picture if you have one.

Some Runica T-shirts are still available. You’re welcome to get in touch with me through the FaceBook group, or anywhere, to place an order. Details are there.

13/08/2008

What a weekend that was! Runica opened for UK band Sheep on Drugs in Hartebeesport on Sat, with My Untold Legacy, Dean & The Deadbeats, and Honeybee. It was a great show and a successful party, we’d like to thank all involved, and all those who turned out to make it worthwhile.

Next up is Café Arc, Sat 30 Aug. The Pedal to the Metal party starts at 8:30, Runica will be first up just before 9. Other bands are great local bands Prevail, Scenery and Dresden Ashes. R30 will get you in, or R20 if you’re dressed metal or goth. This party is hosted by Rocking SA.

Our first batch of Runica T-shirts has been printed. We will be announcing shortly where and how to get hold of them. The designs are up on the FaceBook group

Talking about that, our Facebook group has been generating a lot of interest lately, please check it out and join by going here:

What a great weekend this long one was for Runica. Wed night saw an awesome show at Cafe Arc. This was a kind of warm-up to the competition-gig coming this Fri, to see who'll play at the Birthday Bash. We thought it was the actually battle, though! Please come check out the show on Fri 9 May, as crowd support will be the factor deciding who gets this great opportunity.

Then on Sun evening we played at the Attrition Party at RockShack Centurion. We hadn't played that RockShack before, and had a great time there. We'd like to thank Alex from Attrition for all his work, and look forward to the next one!

Coming up, we have the Battle of the Bands this Fri, as mentioned above, and then will be supporting Terminatryx on the Pretoria and Jhb legs of their album launch. On Fri 30 May at Zeplins RockShack Centurion, and on Sat 31 May at Back 2 Basix. Entrance is R30.

06/11/2007

Well, we had a great time at the Suicidal Clothing and Plastic-Bat.co.za (our clothing & accessories sponsor) label launches and fashion shows on Fri at Zeps. Both labels put on a great show which were greatly enjoyed by the large crowd that had gathered for the event.

We ended up playing quite late on the upstairs floor at Zeplins, which we haven't played before, and had a cool show. The sound was good, the lights were done really well, and we enjoyed it. We'd like to congratulate Emnity, Scarlet Box and Tranquil for their great performances.

We're now building up to a show at a private function in Fourways next Sat, which we're really looking forward to.

Keep an eye here for new development, we'll keep things up to date as regularly as possible.

30/10/07

The band had a great weekend. Thanks to everyone who supported us Friday night, we really appreciate it. Congratulations to "Guy Funk" who won the battle of the bands! The show was awesome with very tough competition, some top acts included 'Hades Factor', 'Mad Love' and"Jeorge". If you weren't at Cool Runnings Fourways on Saturday you missed a fantastic line up of bands. Nevermind - come to Zeplins this Friday night (2 November) for a showcase of alternative clothing lables (Suicide Clothing and Plastic-bat) and an awesome line-up of bands. Check our events page here, and www.myspace.com/runicaband , as well as the Runica group on Facebook (join if you want updates on band news as it happens).

Watch the Advert for the fashion show: Fashion Massacre.

09/10/2007

Runica have a busy couple of weeks coming up. The Battle of the Bands grand final will be at the Bunker on Fri 26 October, then we'll be playing at the opening of the new Cool Runnings in Fourways on Sat 27 October. Runica will then feature and perform at the fashion show and label launch at Zeplins on the 2nd of November. See events for more info.

Runica have entered into a clothing and accessory sponsorship agreement with plastic-bat.co.za. Check out Plastic Bat for some amazing gear at great prices.

Also, Runica will be playing on Sat 27 October at the opening of the new Cool Runnings in Fourways with Arno Carsten's New Porn and other bands. More details to follow shortly. There are also other gigs planned for September, October and November, dates and details to follow as they are confirmed. See the events page for all confirmed gigs.

04/09/2007

After a month's break, during which we were hard at work writing new material, Runica is back on the gigging circuit. We have 2 shows on the 23rd of September, a Sunday (the Monday is a public holiday). Both are very exciting shows. First, at 11am, we'll be playing at a benefit show for 7de Laan actor Erik Holm who was in an accident and needs complicated medical assistance not available in South Africa. The show will be at OppiDam in Haartebeespoort Dam, with a huge line-up of bands and appearances at a great venue. R100 will get you in, R40 will get kids in. The event will go from early 'til Midnight, and is for a good cause.

After that show, we will hop in the van back to Pretoria where we will be playing an evening show at 9pm for an Attrition party, starting at 2pm at The Bunker in Hatfield, with Durban-based band ANKST (they will start around 8pm). They organised a gig for us down in Durban a few months back, now we've found the opportunity to return the favour. Attrition parties have attracted a large and active following, and the party will be a great one at another awesome venue.

More info on these events and other upcoming gigs can be found on the Events page.

Hope to see you there

21/08/2007

Runica is taking a break currently from gigging to write new material. We are hard at work to bring you new songs for any future gigs. A combined effort from all band members is contributing to Runica's unique sound. See the events page for upcoming gigs in October. Any other gigs will be announced as they are confirmed. The site will be continually updated so come back regularly for news and event updates.
